Valuing the teaching ministry
St. Peter’s United Church of Christ believes that the teaching ministry of the Church is precious and dear to congregational life and to our witness in the world. Our teaching ministry involves both pastoral and lay leadership. Our intention is to deepen and widen the meaning of Christian discipleship by “holding the Bible in one hand and the newspaper in the other,” that is, holding our personal spirituality and our public faith together. We affirm a belief that the Church should be a community of faith in which “our lips, our hearts and our hands agree.” And so we support our Sunday School for children, Confirmation Classes for young adults, and the formation of adult study groups to explore the meaning of a ministry entrusted to us all.“
